I wanted to replace all of the lights in my motorhome with LED lights. This left me with a bit of problem since there aren't any good solutions for them to look good with LEDs. I decided that the best thing was to make some covers that were like the globe lights that they were replacing and I wanted them to be thin and sturdy so I chose to print them with clear polycarbonate. The base ring fits between the trim and the bulb holder perfectly so there is no need to do anything to attach them except for to slide them on and let friction do its thing. They came out looking fantastic, almost like crystal. In fact, I decided to use them in other places on my motorhome since they look so nice.
I sliced the model at .3mm and didn't need any support. The PC stuck wonderfully even with only two shells on the bottom and I didn't have to do anything to clean them up. I ran my extruder at 315C, printbed at 235C, speed 45mm/sec and my minimum layer time at 30 seconds. The globe sat on top of the ring without any sagging or distortion.
