The George-Étienne Cartier Monument is a monument in Mount Royal Park to George-Étienne Cartier by sculptor George William Hill (1862–1934). The monument was inaugurated on September 6, 1919 in the heart of Parc Jeanne-Mance's west side. Sir George-Étienne Cartier, 1st Baronet, PC (September 6, 1814 – May 20, 1873) was a French-Canadian statesman and Father of Confederation. In the years leading up to Confederation, Cartier was a dominant figure in the politics of Canada East as leader of the Parti Bleu.
