Foster creative play in your children
In a world of electronic devices, endless screen time, and solo play, children are missing out on so much. Certainly, those devices can play a part in a child's life but all to often it seems things get out of control.
Sometimes, they just need a tool and a little "nudge" in the right direction
Big, chunky clip with lots of possibilities
This clip is based off some Waldorf Playclips (hand-made wooden clips) which are so WONDERFUL for creative play. They are so perfect: simple, durable, strong, yet gentle enough not to pinch little fingers too hard.
These clips can be used for so much - making blanket forts, clipping notes to beds, hanging small toys on chairs... our kids keep coming up with possibilities!
We love these clips but I wanted to offer the kids a larger set, with some that could easily be replaced if broken. I would never dream of discouraging people from buying the original clips (please do buy them!) but the kids are sometimes reluctant to use them for "rougher" play. So... I thought I would design some clips that were similar, with just a little more personality.
Meet the CLIP MONSTERS!
The Clip Monsters are a fun variation of the original clips with two personalities to choose from. One is "angry" looking (but not scary) and the other is kind. Neither are bad monsters - both are helpful. They just have their own way of going about things!
These clips are printed in two parts - choose your personality for the eyes, then pair it with a "mouth" piece for a complete clip. If you wish, pause the print and swap out filament colors to really make the features POP. Use glow-in-the-dark filament for fun nighttime forts! Use your imagination to foster your child's own imagination!
Once printed, all you need is a rubber band. Some have recommended using lobster bands. We just use some thick bands from the office store. Don't make them too tight! Not only do you not want your kids to struggle opening them but you don't want to make them pinch too hard. You will be surprised at just how well they hold, even with what feels like a gentle pinch!
Have fun but be safe!
As with any child's toy, age appropriateness is key. NEVER use these clips around a baby or toddler or any child prone to sticking things in his/her mouth. Rubber bands can snap and, if used inappropriately, can cause injury. As a parent, you must use your best judgement and take responsibility for any toy you provide your children.
HOWEVER, these needn't be just for kids! You might be surprised at how useful they are around the house - even for hanging laundry!
POST YOUR MAKES!
Give the Monster Clips a try and POST YOUR MAKE! I'm inspired when others use my designs - it helps keep me going.
Consider donating
My budget is tight. I always print my designs before uploading them even if they aren't necessarily something I will keep or use myself. As such, I can make more if I have more filament. If you really like my designs, I would truly appreciate any support you can give. I promise I will put it only towards filament or printer supplies and not basic necessities for me! ;-)
Have fun and God Bless!
