Moebius Table

We discovered the Moebius Table (2006) in Parma, Italy, but with its endless looping base and delicately suspended glass surface, it defies national boundaries. The solid walnut foundation flares and narrows in six arcs, creating a look of poised animation. Each upright is accented by brass hardware and serves as a balance point for the thick glass top. The name was inspired by August Ferdinand Möbius, the German astronomer and mathematician who first published the discovery of the Möbius strip – a two-dimensional surface with only one side. To construct a model of it, take a rectangular piece of paper, give it a half twist and then tape its ends together. The resulting shape has one continuous curve – a bit like the base of Moebius. Reminiscent of the iconic Noguchi Table, this piece is a classic in its own right, blending rhythmic form with straightforward function. Simple assembly required.
