This is a modular Model Rocket system. These can all be printed with 0% infill. The rocket segments are 100mm tall. All parts are stackable to make as large or as small a rocket as you wish. The only thing I could never get to print correctly was a launch lug (the straw or pipe that the rocket fits onto the guide rod for launch) so you need to glue one on.
All size engines can be swapped in and out and if the engine doesn't warp the plastic from heat, all parts are reusable. There is an engine mount for sizes "A-C," then a different engine mount for "D-E," and finally size "F" motors will fit directly into the body tubes of the rockets. There is internal and external features of the body parts to basically "key" all parts of the rockets so they may only fit together in a way which ensures correct placement of each piece.
All parts have been tested for fitment and printability. print all parts vertically for best results.
There is also a simple three piece rocket designed for A engines. Its just a body, body with fins and nosecone. Stick the engine in the base, put on the nosecone, and your ready to launch.
Give me some feedback when you print! Let me know what you think. I designed these for my nephew and he has printed probably 2+ kilos worth of PLA parts using these files. They seem to fly pretty well. The 30mm body fins, and A engine rocket has a slight camber with the fins to add a gentle spin to stabilize the rocket as it travels through the air.
NEW (5-2-21): If you are looking to purchase a basic kit of the parts please go to:https://gumroad.com/l/modrocket1
All proceeds go towards funding my nephews high school rocketry club so he and other kids who may not have the resources or financial support due to family situation can still purchase engines, wadding, launchers, etc...
