This is what I used to put the Maker's Tool Works leadscrews and anti-binding X-ends on my Mendelmax. I liked the anti-binding X-end design because I'd been struggling with Z-binding for a while. My Z motion is now silky smooth!
The current version of the bind-reducing X-ends doesn't properly fit the delrin nuts Makers Tool Works is selling, which have an external diameter of 16mm. The modified nut adapter allows them to be mounted on the X-ends, and the modified Z rod mount allows them to be used with upper motor mounts with a 10mm rod.
I know the theoretical advantages and disadvantages of using upper vs. lower motor mounts, but I've had good luck with upper motor mounts in my MendelMax 2, so I thought I'd give it a try, and it works pretty well with the aluminum couplers.
