A simple, minimalist door handle for my mirrored medicine cabinet
The medicine cabinet at my new apartment is one of those where the mirror is split into three doors. It's very sleek-looking, but I often forget which side each door opens on since there are no design features to indicate where to pull. You also have to touch the mirrors when opening and closing the doors, sometimes leaving fingerprint smudges on the door.
This simple door handle does the trick! It shows me where to pull, and gives me a place to put my fingers when opening and closing the cabinet so I don't smudge up the mirror!
Design
The doors of the cabinet are 10mm thick
The handle is designed to be attached with double-sided VHB tape (1mm thick)
The handle protrudes 5mm from the bottom of the mirror (enough to grab but still be slim)
Printing
My bathroom has a white and black aesthetic for the sink area, so I printed these in black to match that. I used PETG for durability, since these could ostensibly be knocked sideways accidentally (they protrude from the mirror a bit).
Assembly
Apply thin strips of 1mm VHB tape to each inside surface of the L (as shown in the last picture above)
Decide where on the door to place the handle (I think it looks nice to inset from the edge by ~10mm)
Carefully stick the handle in place.
Press both taped sides firmly to ensure the tape is adhered.
Enjoy!
