I really like this simple, functional loose filament spool, but I didn't think the original or any remixed arms were quite long enough. The filament, while being unwound during printing, would start to flop into adjacent forks on the arm. Also, because I find that loose filament doesn't need much horizontal space in the fork (winding filament vertically works fine), I decreased the horizontal spacing, which allows for 5 loose filaments to be used.
I also decreased the height of the model. It was 7mm, which I have found is too thick for the spool (core?). I've found that 6.5mm is a nice, snug fit.
I highly recommend printing 4 arms. 3 arms (or even 2) will get the filament on there, however this increases the likelihood of filament flopping into adjacent forks. It also puts a lot more tension on the arm and filament while it's unwinding.
NOTE: These longer arms will hit the aluminum profile. This is easily mitigated with a spacer. I use a section of a toilet paper tube cut to about an inch :X No need to print one unless you wanna be that kind of fancy.
NOTE NOTE: The filament holes don't print right for me. This was also true on the original arm(s). Printing small holes like this is not easy for all printers. I just stuck a small drill bit into it and it's fine.
