I was having trouble getting the stock limit switches to work once I replaced the wheeled carriages on my CR10 with linear rails. The MGN12 mount is for the standard 12mm wide rails most people use and the MGW9 mount is for the wider 18mm rail that is a nice fit for 20x20 extrusion and sits a little lower.
I used Poly carbonate so they can withstand the heat but ABS will also work well. One thing to note is the thin contact surfaces can warp with these materials so I print with a raft and supports, if you are using PLA then both may not be required.
