A medieval sword, based on a figure of St. Michael in Bamberg cathedral, dating from the beginning of the 13th century. The blade is of Oakshotts type XII - a fuller running 2/3 of the bladelenght and a wide blade that widens out under the hilt, the pommel is of a slightly pointy 'tea-cozy' type. Not based on the aforementioned figure is the insctiption in the fuller, etched in Lombardic letters is the popular frase IN NOMINE DOMINI ('In the name of the Lord'). The grip, obscured by St. Michaels hand, is instead based on a later 13th century figure on the tomb of Bishop Siegfried von Eppstein, it has a wooden core wraped in leather, and a leather cord spirally wound around it. #battle #historical #knight #medieval #middle_ages #sword #war
