The Meare Fish House in the village of Meare in Somerset. The Fish house is located on the Somerset Levels and is the only surviving monastic fishery building in England. It housed the Abbot of Glastonbury's water Bailiff and had facilities for fish drying and salting. It dates to the 14th Century. The fish came from Meare Pool to the north of the house which was 500 hectares in area. The lake was drained 200 years ago.
