This Model shows the Pilum Class with the weapon systems stowed and deployed. A take off of the Norwegian Skjold class patrol boats, only a bit larger. The Skjold class is the current fastest armed ship in the world, being an combination catamaran and hovercraft. The Pilum Class would be about twice as large, and much more heavy armed. Figure a top speed of 75-85 knots. Like the Skjold, 4 Gas Turbines power the Pilum, 2 for the Air Bladder and 2 for the main drive. Crew is small at only 36. Think of this as an interceptor for the sea, main mission being defensive anti-ship. The Pilum Class is relatively cheap, small and very stealthy, allowing the Pilum Class to get pretty close to any enemy fleet. Biggest problem would be the noise when in hovercraft mode, but that is only for final attacks. Armament consist of: 2ea Retractable Anti-Ship Missile Launchers, consisting of 4ea missiles per assembly 48ea Vertical Launch Tubes, which can be loaded with a variety of missiles 1ea Anti-Aircraft Rapid fire missile launcher 1ea Dual Barrel Rapid Fire 100mm Rail Gun turret 3ea CWIS Quad 30mm Rapid Fire Rail Guns for point defense / small vessel deterrence. 6ea Side mounted torpedo tubes (retractable) All Parts and the primary dazzle-ish camouflage pattern is by me, Ryksuga.
