UPDATED] Combat Vehicle 2030 (CV30) is a proposed collaborate design between the Nordic countries for an indigenous MBT aimed at replacing the excellent Leopard 2. The design features a 35-40tonne, 3-manned vehicle armed with an autoloading 120mm cannon featuring the newest in electrothermal-chemical (ETC) technology. This is backed up by up to four ATGMs in case of primary weapon failure. The vehicle will be powered by a MTU engine delivering 2000hp, which would push the power/weight ratio well over 50hp/t (M1a2 has around 24hp/t), giving the CV30 unmatched mobility and cross-country speeds with a top speed of 100km/h. Protection will be provided by highly effective 4th generation composite armour backed up by an active defense system and powerful ECM systems.
