You can attach rubber bands to the tops of the side vents to secure it on your head.
For more comfort, use a glue gun to make edges softer.
Wash and dry after every use.
It's not the most comfortable thing and it definetly (!!!) does not offer any protection comparable to commercial respirators, as it doesn't even have a filter, but if it's this or nothing, I believe this could be at least somewhat useful for protecting yourself and others from direct cough.
