I used http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/ to make this lithophane. In order to make details stand out, I edited the original picture from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Katherine_Goddard, removing background and finer details. I also highlighted darker areas so that they would stand out and become thicker areas on the lithophane. When I uploaded this picture into 3dp.rocks, I realized that the lighter areas would appear dark. I shared this model in order to demonstrate the iteration. Finally, I converted the picture to photonegative and uploaded it again to produce the final upload "Mary Katherine Goddard Inverted".
I took an interest in Mary Katherine Goddard after a trip to Philadelphia where I learned about printing at the Benjamin Franklin Printing Press exhibit. Goddard, who owned a print shop, offered the use of her press to print a mass produced copy of the Declaration of Independence. The Second Continental Congress, in 1777, authorized the printing, which was the first to include the names of the signers. At the time, this was considered a treasonable offence. This version of the Declaration is called the Goddard Broadside. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Goddard_broadside.jpg
