Mario created this spirograph kit using Solid Edge software. He wanted to make a kit that could contain all the spirograph pieces as well as pens and paper.
His design is pretty good, but has some flaws and we ran out of time to perfect it. We are posting it here, but recommending that you DON'T PRINT ALL OF IT. Instead use it for inspiration for your own designs.
Mario had to figure out gear ratios for the cogs as well as a creative way to make this spirograph idea different from other spirograph ideas.
The box is rather large (took 30 hours to print on our Ditto Pro) and the lid does not properly latch. (For the hinge we used some welding rod that was a bit narrower than 2mm in diameter. )
OuterSprio2.stl does not have the correct gear ratio and will not work well with the InnerSpiro.stl files.
OuterSprio.stl works well with the three InnerSpiro.stl files. These 4 parts are easy to print and might be fun to play with. From our pictures you can see that it sort of works.
