A manuscript (from the Latin manu scriptus, that is, 'handwritten') is any written document using hands, as opposed to printed or reproduced in any other way. This category also includes graffiti or documents transmitted by engraving on tablets of any material. Commonly, however, with this term, they are intended to be handwritten and written texts in the form of a book. The Golden Age of Manuscripts is located in the Middle Ages when the Amanuens transcribed thousands of ancient texts preserving them in codes that have preserved them for centuries. The discipline that studies manuscripts as objects is codicology, while the study of writing is entrusted to the paleography. The study and the edition of the texts contained in the manuscripts is the subject of philology. #manuscript
