Edit: Im trying to upload again, i dont know if something went wrong before?
Hi. I am 19 years old; I apologize for my English since it is not very good and my second language. I have tried to design the Lunar TORCH. I did not have enough time to get the task done, but I still wanted to participate. Therefore, there will be pics about some of the functions. I will describe how it has to work now.
Explanation:
Is a ‘square parabol’, it can extend up to double size. It has a reflecting area that is about 9,2 square meters. The reflecting area will need a ‘contractor’ which already exists for parabolic heliostats. The contractor will be attached to a robot arm, that can move around and will be programmed too certain positions. The contractor will follow the periscope methodology, so that it can redirect the light to a specific target.
The Lunar Torch will have a camera attached also, which can function as a sensor and find the sun. But besides that, it will also have small sensors on all four sides.
There will be some parts that can move around, and because of dust those will have to be protected. My idea was some sort of hose which can change direction and size.
The rover will have its own dock, which has solar panels on it, so that the rover can charge or other things. The dock will have wheels but be limited in where It can move.
The rover itself also has wheels, that can adjust their height for when in dock and moving around. There probably will also be attached some sort of antenna to the rover, because it needs to be able to communicate on a network.
As said, I haven’t finished my models and idea 100%, but I hope this description can give an idea of what I am trying to create. My lunar torch has its problems but should work.
I wrote this description very fast, so it Is probably a bit weird to read.
