Bridgewater City have started work on the new railway end stand. There was limited space before, due to houses and rail sidings meaning the old stand could not be extended any more. But now City have bought a few extra meters of disused sidings to build on. because before, you could only access the old stand by a small alley, they have also built a one-way access road behind the new railway stand, which leads from the main road on the Town side to the car park on the North (park) side. The new car park is acctually about 200m away from the ground, because the club didnt want to build on the park. It holds 600 cars. There is also another car park by the main stand, around the family corner and behind the Kop, which holds 450, but these spaces are stricly for players, members, groundstaff, coaches and the disabled. Work on the new railway stand began in 2005, and for a short period the club had the club ground shared with Darlington, then Middlesborough for half a season whilst the new stand was being rebuilt. The lower tier is now in use for games, but the upper tier is unfinished and not yet used, with plans for the railway end and town side to be connected. In the 2005-2006 season, the club headed back to The Riverside for night matches because the North-east corner roof blocks the floodlights.
