The XXXI Olympics (in Portuguese: Jogos from XXXI Olimpíada), also known as Rio 2016, was the 31st Summer Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. Brazil has thus become the first South American state and the second Latin American after Mexico organized the games in 1968 to host a Summer Olympics.
