This is a lithophane lamp I designed for my Great Great Aunt's 100 birthday!
I printed it out of wood PLA, but you could use any PLA.
The base has a cut out for an E17 bulb holder which I glue in place. I used a small 7W LED bulb so the bulb was about at the centre of the lamp.
The lithophanes were created using the site http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/
First I cropped the photos to a 10x8 ratio. The important settings in the Lithophane generator were:
Max size: 119
Thickness: 3
Border 4.5
Thinnest layer: 1
Positive Image
Make sure you print the lithophanes standing up and slowly (I also used a brim).
The lithophanes slot into the four sides, and the lid fits on.
On my lid I cut out some lettering and the light shines through it nicely lighting it up. The STL lamp lid with name is what I used - the letters are cutout 0.6mm deep. I also created a blank lid - you can print in like that or add some cutouts in a CAD program.
