Leopard 1 is a German made 2nd generation main combat tank. It first entered the service of the German Federal Army (Bundeswehr) in 1965. Mass production started in 1965 by the German firm Kraus Maffei Weggman and continued production until 1984. Apart from Germany, it was produced in Italy. Over 4000 Leopard 1 in total were made in Germany. Used by the armies of Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Greece, Lebanon, and the Turkish. Between 1964 and 1984, 4,744 Leopard 1 soles were produced. With the production of the Leopard 1, Leopard 2, it became an auxiliary tank in many armies and service was taken over time. LEOPARD 1T. It is a tank built by Aselsan and the 1st Main Maintenance Center Command by improving the fire control system of the 162 Leopard1 A1 / A1A4 tanks in the inventory of the K.K.K. Tank Volkan fire control system has been applied. The tank has the facilities and capabilities of third generation tanks. It has weapon supported optical stabilization. TSK has started to be used. The fire control system of the tank shows superior performance. This project is also when it sees the infrastructure of the Turkish-made tank ALTAY.

Alman Kraus Maffei Weggman firması tarafından seri üretimine 1965 yılında başlanıp 1984 yılına kadar üretimi sürdürmüştür. Almanya'nın haricinde İtalya'da da üretimi yapılmıştır. Toplam 4000'in üzerinde Leopard 1 Almanya'da üretilmiştir.
Brezilya, Şili, Ekvador, Yunanistan, Lübnan, ve Türk orduları tarafından kullanılmaktadır. 1964 ve 1984 yılları arası 4.744 adet Leopard 1 tankı üretilmiştir.[1] Leopard 1, Leopard 2’nin üretilmesiyle pek çok orduda ikincil tank olmuş ve zamanla hizmet dışına çıkarılmıştır.
LEOPARD 1T tankı K.K.K.lığı envanterindeki 162 adet Leopard1 A1/A1A4 tankının atış kontrol sisteminin iyileştirilmesi ve balistik zırh plakalarının eklenmesi ile Aselsan ve 1. Ana Bakım Merkezi Komutanlığı tarafından yapılan tanktır. Tanka Volkan atış kontrol sistemi uygulanmıştır. Tank üçüncü nesil tankların imkân ve kabiliyetlerine sahiptir. Silah destekli optik stabilizasyona sahiptir.TSK kullanılmaya başlamıştır. Tankın atış kontrol sistemi üstün performans göstermektedir. Bu proje aynı zamanda Türk yapımı tank ALTAY'ın alt yapısını oluşturmaktadır.
