Our model is not a legendary lantern in its true sense... that is only a part - the lantern itself. Similar lamps were used by policemen throughout the nineteenth century during their night patrols. At first they were illuminated by a candle, later by a kerosene burner. Foldable handles allow both handholding and attachment to a belt or other piece of equipment. Our model, however, represents not only this famous lantern, but also a very rare combination of this lantern with a flintlock pistol. Our model is inspired by a specimen that was auctioned a few years ago and which comes from Italy around 1800. Although it is a very remarkable technical piece, it does not seem that such designed lantern - gun was too practical and therefore widespread...
