Honestly, I am very happy with this part. It's very simple and probably only 2.5 people in the world can even use it (fewer would bother.) If I were you, I would buy this printer and upgrade to carbon fiber arms, just to use this. I'm telling you it's REALLY nice. I'm sitting under it's glow right now.
The LED light ring I designed is made to attach to the Rostock Max Effector Platform/Fan Combo http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1167280. I think the light ring WILL interfere with the stock arms (but if you feel adventurous... give it a go.) There is no interference with the Trick Laser carbon fiber arms. Basically, this is of limited use, but it is awesome.
The LED light ring that this was designed for is the "Everbrightt 1-Pair White 80MM 63SMD COB LED Angel Eyes With SHELL Halo Ring Bulb Fog light Lamps For Car" http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B015Z7B470.
your going to need to remove the LED ring from the clear plastic diffusor, I tested it and the diffuser doesn't do much, except take up space, so thats gone. Although, if you are one of the 2.5 other people that could actually use this, the diffuser also has clips for mounting which could be helpful in designing a new version of this very mount.
I used a little hot glue to mount the LED ring into the mount.
The light flickers when you are printing directly to the power supply. to solve this I added a DROK® DC Step Down Variable Voltage Regulaor 36V to 24V 12V 5V 3.3V 3V Buck Converter Electronic Volt Stabilizer Car Automatic Battery Adjustable Regulated Power Supply DIY LM2596 Module Board. http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00VUHVX6W.
Now there is no more flicker.
Lastly, I didn't want this thing ALWAYS on when I'm printing, so... I added something like http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B012IJ3DZY. (although mine was different)
I mounted the toggle in a mirror image of the power switch near the Y tower. lets face it, asymmetry of the power switch bothers you a bit.
Good Luck!
