My attempt to replicate the awesome clandestine weapon wielded by John Malkovich in the film "In the Line of Fire" starring Clint Eastwood. Long before 3D printing was available to the common person, creative minds envisioned a plastic gun that could slip through security checkpoints. Under the Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988, printing such a gun would be illegal in the United States. Print this non-firing replica instead!
Basic dimensions were extrapolated from prop photos using photogrammetry. There are no moving parts in this design, so it cannot be readily converted to fire. Any attempt to do so would require a major redesign. Two props were used in the movie: one of plastic for detail, and another of painted aluminum that actually fired blanks. As cool as this gun looks, I don't believe it would be a good design for a real firearm for multiple reasons. I would advise against trying to make a firing version without increasing chamber wall thickness and incorporating a locked breech.
