I wanted to have a blade balancer which fits a wide range of center hole diameters so that I can balance the blades of all different lawn mowers I have.
In my opinion the balancing units one can buy are way too expensive so I came up with my own design.
The following non-print parts are needed:
2x Bearing DIN 6001
1x Screw DIN 912 M12x90
1X Hex Nut M12
6X Magnets Ø20mm
6x M4 Screws for Magnets
6X Hex Nut M4
Print settings:
I printed the parts with PETG to achieve a high strength. Especially the base plate (Grundplatte.STL) must be tough. I printed it with 50% infill and 7 perimeters. All parts except Grundplatte.STL print without supports.
How to use the balancer:
1) Sharpen lawn mower blade on both sides.
2) Put blade on balancer tip. Be sure that the blade is centered. Secure blade with magnets.
3) Most likely, one side of the blade is heavier. This side will face downwards.
4) Take off the blade and resharpen the heavier side of the blade just a little bit.
5) Repeat procedure beginning from step 2 until the blade is balanced out.
6) Enjoy your smooth-running lawn mower :)
