I've had a Kossel Mini for a while and I wanted to give it a elegant and functional effector which could improve print quality and offer a certain benefits like a part cooling.
This is a upgrade for a standard magnetic Kossel Mini effector and compatible with E3D v6 and it's (very similar) clones.
The thing is entirely printable WITHOUT support!
Upgraded effector to version 1.1. Following were improved/changed:
Added support for IR differential height sensor (https://miscsolutions.wordpress.com/mini-height-sensor-board/) - soon I will add instructions how to mount it.
Slightly adjusted the fan mounting holes.
Redesigned the fan duct and placed the mounting holes to better positions. There are two versions of fan ducts - with or without IR probe mounts.
E1: In the distant future I'm going to improve this design by a more convenient fan connections, z-probe (probably modified IR probe) and lights.
E2: As soon as I get hold on IR differential height sensor there will be an upgraded fan ducts for mounting this. - DONE!
E3: I noticed the effector reduces printing area to 170mm circle, beyond that magnetic rods will crash into fan's side and mess up everything. I'll plan to fix this issue in the following week. - Unfortunately there is no room for fans to move closer to the heat sink which means that 170mm circle is your absolute maximum print area. On the other side - commonly used purple heatbed has same dimensions, so it should't be much of a issue.
E4: Added modified fan duct for E3D Volcano. Since I don't have Volcano myself, someone should confirm if its usable or not. I used the dimensions from E3D data sheet so it can't be too much off. Both versions, with or without dc42's IR sensor are available.
E5: Upgraded effector body to version 1.2. Following were improved/changed:
Added M3 nut traps to the effector body for attaching E_mount and E_duct. Not they can be fastened without the fear of overtightening the screw and therefore ruining the hole.
Three holes on the top (for attaching E_mount) must be slightly (0,2 mm) drilled with 3mm drill bit. It is to avoid the unnecessary mess in the nut trap.
Some chamfers were added to smooth up the air flow.
Holes for the fan wires were repositioned and enlarged.
Added *.sldprt file for the new version as well. It should open with Fusion 360 or Solidworks 2017+.
Now E_mount and E_duct are using 6 mm M3 screws. You need 6 in total + 6 M3 nuts.
All previous parts should be compatible.
Coming soon:
I'll tidy up the BOM
Some additional nut traps for the fans (goal is to get at least 2 for a fan).
Discovering an options for an easily attachable and removable cable harness.
