"What you see here may look like old junk... but let me assure you… some of it is new
junk. We do this to hide our findings... So where those who would do us harm see only
worthless clutter—those who know, see priceless history. And in these troubled times,
preserving our past may ensure our future."
Kyber crystals were the force-attuned core of a Jedi's lightsaber. Young padwans would quest to find the crystal that called to them, then as a right-of-passage build a lightsber to wield its power. On the planet Batuu, Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities in the settlement at Black Spire Outpost offered recovered kyber crystals to discerning collectors. In his workshop, Savi's collectors also purportedly allowed latter day aspiring Jedi to construct their own lightsabers like the knights of old.
I haven't been able to make it to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge yet - we're holding off on a Disney trip until after the pandemic has subsided. That means for now, I am living vicariously through other peoples' trips and what I can recreate at home.
I caught a post on the RPF with some dimensions of the small containers in which kyber crystals are sold (https://www.therpf.com/forums/threads/disneyland-galaxy-edge-display-box.306861/post-5034663) and I knew what I had to do. I can't guarantee the model is accurate - like I said, I haven't been to Batuu with a set of calipers yet - but it looks pretty close.
Of course, I couldn't have a container without a crystal. So working from a few images online, I tried to capture the idea of a crystal that will fit in this container. Again, it might not be perfect but it's visually close and will do until I can visit a galaxy far, far away.
Haven't test printed these yet - will update when I do.
