Hi makers!
Update 04/12/17: First print can be seen here!https://youtu.be/JJ2utKqm15Y
See instructions section for details on parts and assembly.
Completed fine tuning, I'll print off some eggs and post pics from here on out.
Update 04/11/17: Fit test passed. It went together really well last night. The last edit I have to make is to open up the hole for the pen in the pen holder to accept larger pens. I will also add an optional modified vertical arm (longer) to make the design more flexible for larger sized oval objects...like I dunno...Grade AAAAAA XXL eggs.
Functional video and assembly instructions tonight: Just in time for Easter!
Update 04/10/17: I found that the hex holes were too small for the nuts so I updated the relevant files denoted with "V2". M3 hardware for all the small holes. The bearings are standard skate bearings with 8mm ID and I used 1/4-20 rod there. 3/8-16 rod for the larger holes connecting all the mounting pieces. Full instructions and build update tomorrow.
Update 04/09/17: I am almost done printing it all up; should have fit test and functional test tomorrow. Stay tuned for updates just in time for Easter ;)
My take on the Eggbot or Sphere O Bot.
I tried to design the assembly so that most spacing is adjustable for a more flexible design. I was having issues with other designs when trying to center the pen on the egg motor axis. Also other designs limited the size of the object/egg/sphere. Eventually, I envisage the carriage being linked to another stepper motor so that objects like bottles could be drawn upon automagically.
You'll need 3/8" threaded rod and nuts to assemble on top of the standard 3mm nuts and bots to connect the stepper motors and couplings. A spring is also not shown...yet.
Currently a work in progress, I am working on a quick pen exchange scheme
