Charles Borromeo Fountain in the 3rd district of Vienna. In a low round basin there is a three-pass-shaped pedestal, on each of which five putti carry three water basins. The water basins are decorated with reliefs of vines, newts and fish. Above are three groups of figures. Main group: St. Charles Borromeo healing a noble lady, woman and youth. Left group: Up the hearts. Right group: Above all love, depicting the plague in Milan. The finial is a triangular obelisk in marble. The fountain was built below street level, since two horizons are needed due to the different scales of the putti and the groups of figures.

The fountain was created by Josef Engelhart and Jože Plečnik and unveiled on May 25, 1909. The name of the fountain commemorates Count Charles Borromeo, Cardinal and Archbishop of Milan, canonized in 1610. - Karl-Borromäus-Brunnen - Buy Royalty Free 3D model by noe-3d.at (@www.noe-3d.at)
