I am not one to rely on firmware to maintain the Z height adjustments but prefer the print head to come to a stop just at the right distance above the print bed.
This is a pretty simple modification that makes it easy to vary the Z height. I used 2, 3x15 and one 3x30mm machine screws. A longer 4mm screw and a few flat washers to shim the standard Z stop out in its new position about 3-4 mm from the vertical riser on front of the upright, instead of hiding under the end of the left side.
The beauty of a 3mm thread is that it allows fine Z adjustment. A 1/4 turn is .125mm. It is an easy reach with a 4" long phillips head or a hex head. The belt drive flexes out of the way when making adjustment.
You can print this adapter plate how ever you like, I used .2 layer height of 1.5mm wide walls and 25% infill.
I paid 76 dollars for this printer on sale and find that it makes great prints.
