This is a model that I commissioned from Josh Smith at Beast Toys for use in a series of YouTube videos where I printed it at (more or less) life size. It is detailed enough to hold up even at that size, although there will be a small amount of faceting in places.
The small version is about the right size for 3 3/4” action figures. (The one in the photo has been scaled up to be more like a 1/6 scale version.) I would recommend using the flat-bottom version in most cases, since it will print much better and require only a little support under the arms and tail.
The life size version is about 10.5 feet long by 5.5 feet tall. Obviously, it will need to be cut up into pieces to be printable. I’m not making the cut-up version I used available, because I had some issues with it and I think it would be better to cut up the model to fit your needs and your printer. In my case, I hollowed it out and sliced it into pieces that I printed at about 1 cm thick, but I would recommend using thicker shells – maybe 1 inch thick or more. I also used a .8mm nozzle to make printing faster. Check out my YouTube videos for more information about how I printed the life size version.
If you print this, please post a picture here or tweet me @mightyjabba on Twitter.
