The Ivalice-class light cruiser, also known as the Ivalice-class frigate, or simply the Ivalice cruiser, was a type of warship used by the Galactic Empire., manufactured by Rendili StarDrive and Sienar Fleet Systems. Its design was the most bizarre out of most Imperial ship designs, as it featured a split hull design, with its central command tower sitting atop of a central module consisting of a primary ion drive engine, flanked by two halves of the hull, each consisting a single secondary ion drive engine, and a single large reactor for additional power. It was heavily armed with six twin heavy turbolasers, eight twin light turbolasers, ten anti-starfighter laser cannons, two medium tractor beam emitters and six proton torpedo launchers, which stays true to its iconic Star Destroyer origins. Because of its armament and power output, it serves efficiently as a support ship for much larger vessels, such as the Imperial-class Star Destroyer. Its large engines also made it useful as a patrol vessel, as it can keep up with and pursue smugglers and pirates, in backwater worlds. Its name was given for the honor of Admiral Mak Ivalice, whom has commanded his Republic forces during the Clone Wars, and thus was of a late Republic design. Its split hull design gave the Ivalice cruiser more of a claw-like design; a departure from the dagger-shaped norm. Originally developed for the Clone Wars, it has since sought greater use well into the Galactic Civil War, then into the Imperial Remnant era, and later fought throughout the Yuuzhan Vong War.
