Crystals can be divided into several crystal classes based on the geometrical arrangement of their component atoms and polyatomic ions. This model, a dipyramid, is an example of the Isometric crystal class where all axes of the crystal have identical dimensions.
Fluorite (CaF2) is a common mineral with this crystal structure.
