In May 2015, Swedish artist Oskar Pernefeldt officially proposed the International Flag of Planet Earth. It was designed to be used in space expeditions and has two main purposes: Represent the planet Earth. Remind all of us that we live on Earth, that we share the planet together, without national borders. That we should take care of the planet and take care of each other. The flag design consists of seven intersected rings and a blue sea as a background. The rings are joined in the center of the flag to form a flower, which represents life on Earth. The intersection of the rings also represent that all things on Earth are connected directly or indirectly. The rings are interconnected with each other as are the Borromeo Rings, and that no part of the Earth can be removed without the entire structure collapsing. Finally, the deep blue represents the ocean and the importance of water for life on our planet. #flag #earth #Pernefeldt
