Instituto Valenciano de la Música (Valencia Music Institute) was created on 29th April 1999, following the approval by the Valencia Regional Legislature of the Valencia Law of Music and began operations on 1st January 2000. The IVM has responsibilities in the following areas: 1. The protection and promotion of the Valencia musical heritage. 2. The promotion of the music and professional musicians of Valencia throughout the Valencia Region. 3. Artist Management: Joven Orquesta de la Generalitat Valenciana (Valencia Regional Government Youth Orchestra) and Coro de la Generalitat Valenciana (Valencia Regional Government Choir). The Valencia Law of Music additionally contemplates the future creation of an orchestra, a youth band and a professional band. 4. The stimulation of the composition and creation of new music. 5. The promotion and fostering of musical associations. 6.
