The Venator-class Star Destroyer was originally under use by the Old Republic. After the Great Jedi Purges and the rise of the Empire, the Venator saw little action and was soon replaced by the Imperial I class Star Destroyer. The Venator carried a heavy armament that rivalled that of a Victory-class Star Destroyer.
