- Updated: The clamp bar piece to have a slightly taller phone grip. Also fixed a minor gap causing a slight cosmetic issue with the first model.**
- Update2: the 4mm Hex head screw should be 4x10mm not 12..- Update3: Added a 7.5" version of the phone clamp piece to allow for vertical mounting of some phones like the Samsung Galaxy series.
This is a phone clamp for the iControlPad Bluetooth game controller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IControlPad), This is a replacement for the original universal phone clamp which was comprised of a bent piece of metal with holes at approximate phone widths and a cheap single use plastic rivet to fasten it in place. the biggest flaw of using a plastic rivet in the official phone clamp is once the pin was in, the only way to take it off was to take apart the controller and push the pin out from the inside. which made using it as a stand alone controller kind of annoying.
My design allows easy removal of the clamp as it just slides off when the tightener is loosened and you can just leave the tightener on the controller. It is much more adjustable for larger phones like the Samsung Galaxy S3/4 and possible the Notes series. You will need to open the case of icontrolpad once to fasten down the "screw based adapter" piece.
On top of the three pieces you will need to print, the following will be needed to fasten the clamp to the controller all can be found at most hardware stores. I highly recommend stainless steel for the screws and nuts.
3x10mm Flat Head Machine Screw.
3mm Hex Nut.
4x10mm Hex head screw for the tightener
4mm Hex Nut.
Optional super/crazy glue for tightener and the 4x10mm hex screw (if needed depending on tolerances of the 3D Print).
