Introduced in 1962 as part of their 1050 Data Communications System, the IBM 1052 Printer/Keyboard was an early computer terminal designed to communicate with other 1052 systems as well as interface with IBM’s 1400, 7000 or System/360 series computers popular during the 1960’s and 70’s. Available in multiple configurations (dependent on the computer system connected to it), the 1052 consisted of a modified IBM Selectric typewriter printer and keyboard with standard 10 cpi typeball and cartridge ribbon, housed in a single large case, but with each able to operate independently of each other. Supplied with its’ own small L-shaped desk, the terminal remained prominent until it was eventually replaced over time by the more compact and less expensive IBM 2740 and 2741 terminal printers, introduced in 1964, which offered 50% higher speed, higher quality printing, quieter operation, and true interchangeable type fonts. This model represents the 1052 Model 6 terminal variant. Chair by Prism
