Introduced in 1964, the IBM 1800 Data Acquisition and Control System (DACS) was an early third-generation (integrated circuit) process control variant of the IBM 1130 computer system designed to control industrial process systems and remote data acquisition. Unlike the 1130 desk based system, the 1800 was housed in a 6 foot high cabinet, with two variants available: the IBM 1801 and 1802. Paired with the cabinet mounted IBM 1826 I/O and IBM 1828 Process Expansion Units, the 1800 system could operate using a variety of IBM input /output (I/O) devices including the 1053 Printer, 1054 Paper Tape Reader, 1055 Paper Tape Punch, 1442 Card Read Punch, 1443 Printer, 1627 Plotter, 1810 Disk Storage Drive, 2311 Disk Storage Drive (via the IBM 2841 Storage Control Unit), the 2401 Magnetic Tape Unit, the 1803 Memory Expansion unit, and the 1816 Printer-Keyboard. This model represents the 1802 Process Control Unit coupled with the 1826 I/O Expansion Unit and 1828 Process Expansion Unit.
