Print & Plot Tool Holder
Overview
With this 2-in-1 tool holder, one can print and plot without swapping the tool mounts !
The only move between the two is to lower or higher the pen in its holder to make it touch the surface or not.
With this carriage you can plot parts at full 1:1 scale before you print them ! It can even plot itself :)
Of course, this is better suited for large-sized implementations of the Hypercube, which allow support for full-size paper when plotting
Swap modes
To swap from 3D-Printing to Plotting, simply lower the pen so that the tip is lower than the extruder's. Then, home manually to a position where the pen's tip is in contact with the surface. Finally, "print" the Gcode file of the drawing to plot.
Generating Gcode files
The most effective way i found is to use the Gcode tools add-in for Inkscape. It has a "path-to-gcode" option that works out of the box with this setup !
Just remember to convert the Inkscape drawing's entities to Paths first, as only paths get exported to Gcode in the end ;)
Printing notes
Depending to the printer it seems like it's needed to rework the holes a bit.
Printed in PLA, Cold bed, draft quality and 10% infill on Hypercube.
