Update 2/1/2018: it is now very easy to create your own name using BlockCAD, see

"how_to_create_a_3D_logo_in_Google_Sketchup_111007a.pdf" presents a step-by-step guide how to create a 3D logo or name.
"create_logo_111007.skp" and "create_logo_111007.stl" are the result of the procedure in the tutorial.
The other .skp and .stl files are for the larger logo shown in the photo which was split into 3 parts since it is about 190 mm long.
