This is modeled after the Hornady Lock-N-Load® Control Panel Primer Level Sensor. It slips over the primer tube and the clamping shaft collar from McMaster will activate a microswitch when the primers drop to a certain level.
The hole at the top is meant to help guide the tube when you add more primers so you don't need to take this off when you run out.
Microswitch that I found on Digikey with 40gf: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/omron-electronics-inc-emc-div/SS-5GL111-3/Z5074-ND/5236949
2.5mm x 16mm Socket Head Screws: https://www.mcmaster.com/#91292a018/=1csp5qf
11/16" OD 1/8" ID Clamping Shaft Collar: https://www.mcmaster.com/#9961K11
Hooking it up needs two wires soldered to the Common (C) and Normally Open (NO) terminals and then wired to an Arduino or buzzer and battery. I am working on a design that takes the place of the Hornady control panel but that isn't ready yet. The shaft collar is slightly too big but wrapping a little tape around the primer follower does the trick.
I am debating if I should replace the screw holes with small nubs that the microswitch can snap into or leave it as is.
I am open to suggestions to make this model better so please let me know if you have any ideas!
