I needed a key housing for my 2005 Honda Pilot - 3 button remote. Thanks to Cleven for the original design. It eliminated a lot of extra work. I really didn't need a hole for the key ring. I had difficulty with the snap clasp. And, I managed to break the cover on my maiden voyage to the grocery store. So, I figured I'd make the closure more rigid by using an M3 hex bolt instead of a plastic snap. I thickened the cover. I figure that most people building anything from this site probably have a bunch of M3's lying around. I added posts to two overhangs on the back cover. So, no support material is needed. Just clip them away after printing. I increased the size of the interior cavity to fit my remote circuit and the sensor chip. (If you haven't done this before, Honda sticks a theft prevention sensor chip inside their keys. If you have a busted case, and you didn't pull out the sensor chip when extracting the remote circuitry, then fish the case out of the garbage. You'll need it. The engine will turn over, but the car won't start without the sensor chip in close proximity to the ignition switch. The sensor chip just goes in the key case next to the remote circuit. Picture is pre-finished. After 2 days of driving around under duress with kids in the back seat, no cracking or breaks (me or the key.) If it breaks after a while, I might add an interior pocket for the sensor chip to keep it from rattling.
9/9/2018 - After 10 months of regular use, original print still working fine. No plans to reprint or modify until it fails.
