Hollow Ball For Egg's Protection

My entry for the challenge, based on the idea, using a hollow ball,
together with a threaded cover for adjusting the egg in axial direction
and closing the hollow ball.

The principle of a trampoline helped me, to make a design with spring elements like cup springs, which hold the egg in axial direction in the center of the hollow ball.
For elastic fixation in radial direction I used two separate spring element rings, which are able to hold the egg, similar in a cage.

The outer ball housing diameter is 100 mm and the general wall thickness is 3 mm.
The thickness of the spring elements is 1 mm.

The model of the egg I've carried over by "Seishiro Okazaki".

The egg has to be inserted in a pre defined position, before closing the hollow ball with the threaded cover, to get no axial clearance of the egg.

The preferred material for 3D-printing is »ABS«, but unfortunately I can't call a 3D-Printer my own, so that I could not test my proposal.

An additional small hint:
My proposal also could easily tested on a bowling alley ;-)
or you could throw the assembly against a wall, from a specified distance and with an inital velocity.

Further technical notes:

Impact velocity after a fall of 4,572 m : 9,471 m/s

Density of »ABS« for calculation of the mass : 1,04 g/cm^3

Volume of the complete assembly (without egg) : 106,86 cm^3

Mass of the complete assembly (without egg) : 0,111 kg

Potential Energy (without egg) : 4,9 J = (Nm) = (Ws)

Spring are elements not calculated resp. no FEM-analysis done.
The result of my design - may be, because not yet tested - is a concept only!

Model available in the following data formats:
STEP-file (.stp) of the complete assembly (2 components and egg included)
STL-files of the 2 components for 3D-printing
Native data (.prt) and (.asm) in a "zipped" folder for users of
»PTC Creo Parametric 2.0«

Thank you for your attention!
