A concept layout (ie incomplete) using parts I mostly have at my disposal.
Designed to be constructed from aluminium tooling plate.
My interest is in machining medium density tooling board.
This design is not intended for cutting metal.
Travel: X=600 Y=550 Z=225
16mm ballscrews
20mm linear rails
Nema23 motors

The integral ballscrew support / motor mount is from another GrabCAD member.

Designed to be buildable in a home or small workshop but a critical machining op would have to be sourced. The two vertical legs need machining to ensure 2 perpendicular faces on each; 1) where they touch the base plate, 2) where they contact with the bridge plate.

Some work would be needed to add rigidity and I'd probably use a much smaller spindle.

I'm a tooling design & manufacturing engineer with over 30 years experience. Currently on my first home CNC machine build.
