This replaces the metal X-carriage that comes stock on the Hic Hic acrylic printers with a much lighter & more compact design that is used in conjunction with a bowden extruder.
Like the original designer Tech2c noted - this gives a dramatic improvement in print quality by reducing the weight of the x-carriage and maintaining a more uniform flow rate.
The clamp is a perfect fit for the Chinese E3D clones, and is designed to fit a standard 40mm cooling fan blowing over the hotend cooling fins, a 50mm turbine fan will zip tie to the side for print cooling (I still have to design the nozzle for this) and also has space for an inductive sensor with the smallest offset I could manage, so you get really good bed auto levelling too!
The design lifts the nozzle higher up the X axis too - so the z home position is 25mm lower than the stock design,.. this boost the maximum build height up from 180mm to 205mm
Interestingly - I printed this in PLA (I ran out of acetone & couldn't get ABS to stick!) which I'd usually avoid so close to the hot end - but it doesn't seem to get warm at all & I've had no issues with warping or deforming at all!
