Heveningham Hall is a large country house located in Suffolk, England. It is one of the largest in the country and is surrounded by well-kept rolling country side.
Brief History:
The current house was built in 1778 by Sir Robert Taylor, thus making it a rather late style of English Palladianism. The house was commissioned and occupied by Sir Gerard Vanneck who was a dutch merchant. The interiors of the house were completed by notable architect James Wyatt. The house was owned by the Vanneck family until 1970 when death duties forced the sale of the house. The house was bought by English Heritage until its sale in 1981 to an Iraqi businessman. The East Wing of the house was damaged by a fire in 1984 and was not entirely repaired until 1991. In 1994 the house was once again sold to its current owner who still uses it as a private house. Furthermore, the current owner has restored all of the surrounding land to the original designs by Capability Brown. It is now arguable that the house and grounds are in better condition than when they were newly finished.
The Model:
This model prints as once piece therefore scaling may be required. The model retains most of its scale down to around the 50% scale mark. Making a model of this would seriously affect its quality.
I used a 0.1mm layer height for this model as this gives an excellent finish to the roof. The model does not require much fill so I use a density of 10%.
If you like this model then please have a look at my other model of Wentworth Woodhouse. More large houses on the way!
