Unlike the old turbo threading, Turbo threading 2.0 is more realistic. Turbo threading 2.0 combines a regular core and a micro core in one. Each core can process one light and one heavy thread simultaneously. When the usage of a regular execution unit is below 50% the thread is sent to the micro execution unit for processing. Parts of a core can be shut down reducing heat and power consumption. Unlike hyper-threading each thread has it's own execution unit. A Hellcat core with turbo threading 2.0 is like an overclocked atom and i5 core in one where the atom part is for light threads and the i5 part of the core for heavy threads.
