OpenSCAD files are available on my github repository:https://github.com/bytezar/heatbed-isolation
Parts:
Thick cork mat (thickness: 6mm): https://www.castorama.pl/produkty/wykonczenie/tapety-i-wykonczenie-powierzchni/artykuly-korkowe/plyta-korkowa-6-mm.html
Thin cork place mat: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/textiles-rugs/table-linen/avskild-place-mat-cork-art-40281654/
Large binder clips (Length: 2 inches, 51 mm): https://www.amazon.com/ACCO-Binder-Clips-Large-72100/dp/B002VD6BLG/
Glass on heatbed attached by small binder clip
4x screw M3 30 mm
Tools:
Sharp knife
Driller-driver
Drill bits: 3 mm, 7 mm, 9 mm
The ruler and pen
Process:
Print 4 parts (2x part "no hole", 1x "hole left", 1x "hole right", this hole is for wires).
Use driller-driver and 3 mm bit to improve horizontal holes.
Screw it using M3 screws (30 mm length).
Cut two 24,8 mm squares in 6mm cork mat.
Cut two 24,8 mm squares in 2mm cork mat.
In one thin cork mat cut holes for small clip binders (green in the picture) and wires below the table (see the picture).
Put 3 layers of cork mat into printed parts. At the bottom put thick cork mat and then two thin ones.
Use driller-driver and 9 mm bits to make holes (in cork) for 4x bed springs.
Use driller-driver and 7 mm bits to make hole (in cork) for bed wires.
In second thick cork mat cut 22 mm square (in the middle) for heat bed.
Place heat bed with attached glass (don’t forget to remove hooks?? from binder clips).
Put second thick cork (with big hole), which should fill gaps between hotbed and printed parts.
You can also cut another 25,4 mm cork square in thick mat. When you printer is warming, cover hot bed. In this way heat bed will reach proper temperature faster :-)
Remarks:
Maybe you also need holes in second thin cork mat, but holes only for small clip binders.
In OpenSCAD there is value latchOffset. I don't know whether this value is proper. I printed without this offset and I had to use sand paper to bigger space.
I don't know whether variable "wireHoleDiameter" is proper. I also printed without it. I had to use driller-driver to make hole for wires.
